This castle is very near Banbury and has been owned by the Fiennes family for about 600 years. It makes a very beautiful setting with its most and lovely lines of the building itself. The rooms are not too big which gives it a more friendly and homely feeling that some of the more palatial ones.

Some say the nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse was generated from this castle and the 'fine lady' was actually a Fienne lady as in the surname. However other say this is not true.
Friends of our tended the property next door and we joined them in the local pub for a couple of quizz nights. The gardener from the castle was in our team on the last occasion.
